College Board recently announced to discontinue the optional essay portion of the SAT. Additionally, Subject Tests in US history, languages, and maths would no longer be given, including other topics. In addition to several different tests, including Advanced Placement exams, the organization which administers standardized tests will now concentrate on a new digital SAT edition.
The administration will assess those registered or those who plan to register for the upcoming SAT with an essay until June 2021. Students who choose the optional SAT Essay section can cancel their SAT before their registration deadline without payment adjustments.
The essay is available after June 2021 in the States, where it is expected as part of the SAT School Day administrations. Students planning to take an SAT on a school day can verify with their school whether the essay option is available.
In March, the pandemic shut down schools and upset all education levels, creating unexpected chaos for the SAT and the rival ACT admission exam. Since spring, several university students have struggled to locate test facilities at the right location and time.
With a few exceptions, universities and colleges have terminated or suspended test requirements temporarily. Some university admissions leaders argued that no scores are needed for SAT or ACT to select a class and that testing needs could otherwise discourage eligible candidates. Others make provisional concessions to the pandemic trigger and unfair access to testing.
